# Start an ingest

`POST /ingests/{id}/start`

Currently only available for rtsp-pull ingests. Starts ingesting from the source; the ingest status becomes `active` and a new ingest run is recorded. Returns 400 `not_supported` for other ingest types and 409 `already_active` when the ingest is already active.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required — Ingest ID
