# Rename a project, or stop storing its documents

`PATCH /projects/{project_id}`

## Path parameters

- `project_id` string, required

## Request body

- object: Rename it, or change its default retention (for what comes next).
  - `name` string
  - `retention` 'none' | '1d' | '7d' | '30d' | '90d': How long Doconda keeps a document's content (files, request, report, events; an artifact's page and data) once it finishes. `none`: 15 minutes. Then only what billing needs stays (status, format, pages, cost).

  - `retention` 'none' | '1d' | '7d' | '30d' | '90d', required: Default retention of the project's documents and of the files uploaded to it (ADR-0036).
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required

## Other responses

- `401`: unauthorized (missing, unknown or revoked key; expired session).
- `403`: session_required: dashboard only.
- `404`: not_found
