# Get Metrc strains

`GET /public/v1/metrc/strains`

Get the Metrc strains — the strain definitions Distru caches from Metrc — across your licenses, filtered by various attributes. Results are ordered by Metrc's strain id ascending and scoped to the company that owns the API key.

Each row mirrors a strain as it exists in Metrc (name, genetics, testing status, THC/CBD levels, indica/sativa split), plus the owning `license`. Strains deleted in Metrc are included by default — use `is_deleted` to return only live or only deleted strains. Strain names appear on Metrc items (the `strain.name` returned by [GET /public/v1/metrc/items](#get-metrc-items)) and are required when creating items for strain-bearing product categories.

This is a read-only cache: it does not create, edit, or delete strains in Metrc. Data is eventually consistent — changes synced from Metrc can take up to ~1 second to appear here.

A list of Metrc strains

- MetrcStrains: A collection of Metrc strains. Note: This endpoint returns eventually consistent data, with changes taking up to 1 second to propagate in responses.
  - `data` MetrcStrain[]: Metrc Strains
    - `cbd_level` string: The strain's CBD level as reported by Metrc, a decimal fraction rendered as a string (e.g. "0.005" for 0.5%), or null when none is reported
    - `fetched_datetime` string, required: The datetime Distru last fetched this strain from Metrc
    - `genetics` string, required: The strain's genetics as reported by Metrc (e.g. "60% Indica / 40% Sativa")
    - `id` integer, required: The strain's identifier in Metrc. A Metrc identifier, not a Distru ID.
    - `indica_percentage` string, required: The strain's indica share as reported by Metrc, a percentage rendered as a string (e.g. "60" for 60%)
    - `is_deleted` boolean, required: True when the strain has been deleted in Metrc.
    - `is_used` boolean, required: True when Metrc reports the strain is in use (referenced by plants, plant batches, or items), so it can no longer be deleted in Metrc
    - `license` License, required: A cannabis license held by a company or tied to a location, identifying it to the state and its compliance system.
      - `active` boolean, required: Whether this license is currently active
      - `expiry_datetime` string, required: ISO 8601 datetime this license expires (e.g. "2026-08-20T00:00:00Z")
      - `id` string, required: ID for this license
      - `inserted_datetime` string, required: ISO 8601 datetime this license was created at
      - `issue_datetime` string: ISO 8601 datetime this license was issued, or null when not set
      - `license_number` string, required: License number
      - `license_type` string, required: The license type as configured in Distru. A state-specific free-form value, e.g. "Distributor" or "Type 11 Distributor-Transport"
    - `name` string, required: The strain name as reported by Metrc
    - `sativa_percentage` string, required: The strain's sativa share as reported by Metrc, a percentage rendered as a string (e.g. "40" for 40%)
    - `testing_status` string, required: The strain's testing status as reported by Metrc (e.g. "None", "InHouse", "ThirdParty")
    - `thc_level` string: The strain's THC level as reported by Metrc, a decimal fraction rendered as a string (e.g. "0.212" for 21.2%), or null when none is reported
  - `next_page` string: URL for the next page of results; null when there is no next page

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid parameters
- `401`: Missing or invalid API token
- `403`: The API token lacks the required permission, or team restrictions hide the record
