# Connect tool

`POST /tools/connections`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://www.dench.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://www.dench.com/api/v1/tools/connections`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer

Create a tool OAuth connection link. Slack is in-house, never a third-party connection: for toolkit slack the CLI prints the first-party install URL (/api/slack/install?slug=<workspace>, org admin) instead of calling this endpoint.

## Request body

- object
  - `toolkit` string: Toolkit slug, e.g. github, gmail, stripe.
  - `toolkit_slug` string
  - `callback_url` string: Optional OAuth callback URL.
  - `returnTo` string: Native OAuth return path within the workspace.

## Response `200`

Successful response

- object: Connect-link response.
  - `redirect_url` string: OAuth URL the user opens to finish connecting.
  - `connection_id` string

  - `artifact` object
    - `kind` 'connect', required

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request
- `401`: Missing or invalid authentication
