# Delete group

`DELETE /groups/{groupId}`

## Request

Permanently deletes a group of the company, the same as deleting it in Settings > Groups.

**This action is irreversible.** The memberships of the group are removed, while its users stay in the
company. Meeting types and templates of the group move to the default General group. Other groups that
listed the deleted group in `recordingAccessGroupIds` no longer include it.

Deleting a group requires the permission to delete it in the web app: a company admin, or a manager who
is a member of the group. A group that is readable but not deletable returns `403`, and so does the
default General group, which can never be deleted. A group that is unknown, personal, not readable,
or already deleted returns `404` with the code `group_not_found`.

Rate limits:
- Global: 120 requests per minute per API key.
- Endpoint-specific: 30 requests per minute per API key, shared with `POST /groups` and
  `PATCH /groups/{groupId}`.

Group deleted.

## Other responses

- `401`: API key is missing or invalid.
- `403`: The authenticated user is not allowed to access this resource, e.g. it is not assigned to a company.
- `404`: Resource was not found.
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded.
