Search USGS NWIS groundwater wells by bounding box.

Queries the USGS National Water Information System for
groundwater monitoring wells within the specified bounding box.
Returns site metadata and recent water level measurements.

min_lon : float
    Bounding box west edge (longitude).
min_lat : float
    Bounding box south edge (latitude).
max_lon : float
    Bounding box east edge (longitude).
max_lat : float
    Bounding box north edge (latitude).
period : str
    ISO 8601 duration for data retrieval (default P365D).

## Query parameters

- `min_lon` number, required: Bounding box minimum longitude
- `min_lat` number, required: Bounding box minimum latitude
- `max_lon` number, required: Bounding box maximum longitude
- `max_lat` number, required: Bounding box maximum latitude
- `period` string: ISO 8601 duration for data retrieval (default P365D = 1 year)
- `x_api_key` string, nullable
