# Delete a translation memory

`DELETE /v3/translation_memories/{translation_memory_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.deepl.com`
- URL: `https://api.deepl.com/v3/translation_memories/{translation_memory_id}`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Delete a translation memory and all of its segments.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Export the translation memory first if you need a
copy of its contents. Translation requests that pass the deleted `translation_memory_id` fail
after this call, so update your integration before deleting.

Requires an API key with the `translation_memories:write` scope.

## Path parameters

- `translation_memory_id` string, uuid, required: A unique ID assigned to a translation memory.

## Response `204`

The translation memory was deleted. The response has no body.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request. Please check error message and your parameters.
- `401`: Authorization failed. Please supply a valid `DeepL-Auth-Key` via the `Authorization` header.
- `403`: Authorization failed. Please supply a valid `DeepL-Auth-Key` via the `Authorization` header. This error is also returned when the API key is scoped but does not include the scope required for this endpoint.
- `404`: The translation memory could not be found. This is also returned for a translation memory that belongs to another account.
- `429`: Too many requests. Please wait and resend your request.
- `500`: Internal error.
- `503`: Resource currently unavailable. Try again later.
