# Create an account

`POST /v1/auth/signup`

## Request

## Request body

- object
  - `email` string, email, required
  - `password` string, required
  - `name` string
  - `ref` string: Optional affiliate referral code (from a `https://deadsimple.email/?via={code}` link). Invalid or unknown codes are ignored — they never fail signup.

## Response `201`

Account created, verification email sent

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error
- `409`: Email already registered
