# SAT-E: estimated vessel position (beyond AIS)

`GET /api/ext/vessel_pro_est`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.datalastic.com`

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - API key in query parameter `api-key`

Returns the same data as `/vessel_pro` plus an `estimated_position` field containing an AI-calculated lat/lon for vessels that are currently out of terrestrial AIS range.

The estimate is based on the vessel's last known position, its reported destination port, and its ETA. Activated automatically when a vessel has been inactive for 3+ hours.

Uses the extended base URL `https://api.datalastic.com/api/ext/`.

**Credit cost:** 3 credits. Requires an Add-Ons plan tier.

    - `estimated_position` object: AI-estimated current position. Populated when the vessel is out of terrestrial AIS range (inactive for 3+ hours). Based on last known position, destination port, and ETA.
      - `lat` number, float: Estimated latitude.
      - `lon` number, float: Estimated longitude.

    - `duration` number, float: Server-side query time in seconds.

    - `next` string: Pagination token. Present on paginated endpoints (`/vessel_find`) only when more results exist. Pass it back as the `next` query parameter to fetch the following page.

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing required parameter or invalid parameter value.
- `401`: Invalid or expired API key.
- `402`: API key is valid but the credit balance is exhausted or the subscription has expired. Purchase more credits to continue.
- `404`: Requested vessel, port, or resource was not found. No credits deducted.
- `429`: More than 600 API calls in a single minute. The response carries a `Retry-After` header with the wait in seconds. Use it for backoff.
- `500`: Server-side error. Retry the request.
