# Validate a monitor user template

`POST /api/v2/monitor/template/validate`

## Request

- Auth: API key in header `DD-API-KEY` and API key in header `DD-APPLICATION-KEY`

Validate the structure and content of a monitor user template.

## Request body

- MonitorUserTemplateCreateRequest: Request for creating a monitor user template.
  - `data` MonitorUserTemplateCreateData, required: Monitor user template data.
    - `attributes` MonitorUserTemplateRequestAttributes, required: Attributes for a monitor user template.
      - `description` string, nullable: A brief description of the monitor user template.
      - `monitor_definition` object, required: A valid monitor definition in the same format as the [V1 Monitor API](https://docs.datadoghq.com/api/latest/monitors/#create-a-monitor).
      - `tags` string[], required: The definition of `MonitorUserTemplateTags` object.
      - `template_variables` MonitorUserTemplateTemplateVariablesItems[]: The definition of `MonitorUserTemplateTemplateVariables` object.
        - `available_values` string[]: Available values for the variable.
        - `defaults` string[]: Default values of the template variable.
        - `name` string, required: The name of the template variable.
        - `tag_key` string: The tag key associated with the variable. This works the same as dashboard template variables.
      - `title` string, required: The title of the monitor user template.
    - `type` 'monitor-user-template', required: Monitor user template resource type.

## Response `204`
