# Update an identity provider

`PATCH /api/v2/identity_providers/{idp_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com`
- URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com/api/v2/identity_providers/{idp_id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `DD-API-KEY` and API key in header `DD-APPLICATION-KEY`
  - OAuth 2
    - Authorization code: `/oauth2/v1/authorize`
    - Token URL: `/oauth2/v1/token` scopes: `org_management`

Enable or disable an identity provider for the current organization.

- `idp_id` string, required

- IdentityProviderUpdateRequest: Request body for updating an organization identity provider.
  - `data` IdentityProviderUpdateData, required: Data object for updating an organization identity provider.
    - `attributes` IdentityProviderUpdateAttributes, required: Attributes for updating an organization identity provider.
      - `enabled` boolean, required: Whether to enable or disable this identity provider for the organization.
    - `id` string, required: The unique identifier of the identity provider to update.
    - `type` 'identity_providers', required: The resource type for identity providers.

OK

- IdentityProviderResponse: Response containing a single organization identity provider.
  - `data` IdentityProviderData, required: Data object representing an organization identity provider.
    - `attributes` IdentityProviderAttributes, required: Attributes of an organization identity provider.
      - `authentication_method` string, required: The authentication method used by this identity provider.
      - `enabled` boolean, required: Whether this identity provider is enabled for the organization.
    - `id` string, required: The unique identifier of the identity provider.
    - `type` 'identity_providers', required: The resource type for identity providers.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `403`: Authentication error
- `404`: Not found
- `429`: Too many requests
