# Search metrics

`GET /api/v1/search`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com`
- URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com/api/v1/search`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `DD-API-KEY` and API key in header `DD-APPLICATION-KEY`
  - OAuth 2
    - Authorization code: `/oauth2/v1/authorize`
    - Token URL: `/oauth2/v1/token` scopes: `metrics_read`

**Note**: This endpoint is deprecated. Use `/api/v2/metrics` instead.

Search for metrics from the last 24 hours in Datadog.

## Query parameters

- `q` string, required

## Response `200`

OK

- MetricSearchResponse: Object containing the list of metrics matching the search query.
  - `results` MetricSearchResponseResults: Search result.
    - `metrics` string[]: List of metrics that match the search query.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `403`: Forbidden
- `429`: Too many requests
