# Delete a monitor

`DELETE /api/v1/monitor/{monitor_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com`

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `DD-API-KEY` and API key in header `DD-APPLICATION-KEY`
  - OAuth 2
    - Authorization code: `/oauth2/v1/authorize`
    - Token URL: `/oauth2/v1/token` scopes: `monitors_write`

Delete the specified monitor

## Path parameters

- `monitor_id` integer, required

## Query parameters

- `force` string

## Response `200`

OK

- DeletedMonitor: Response from the delete monitor call.
  - `deleted_monitor_id` integer: ID of the deleted monitor.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Authentication error
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Item not found error
- `429`: Too many requests
