# Delete an index

`DELETE /api/v1/logs/config/indexes/{name}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com`
- URL: `https://api.datadoghq.com/api/v1/logs/config/indexes/{name}`
- Auth: API key in header `DD-API-KEY` and API key in header `DD-APPLICATION-KEY`

Delete an existing index from your organization. Index deletions are permanent and cannot be reverted.
You cannot recreate an index with the same name as deleted ones.

- `name` string, required

OK

- `429`: Too many requests
