# Stage a replacement file for an active dataset

`POST /datasets/{id}/updates`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.databazaar.io`
- URL: `https://api.databazaar.io/datasets/{id}/updates`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Accepts human JWTs, API keys/OAuth and verified owner-linked agent sessions. Upload the complete file to the returned upload_url, then submit it. No live data is changed yet.

## Response `201`

update_id, upload_url, path and submit_endpoint

## Other responses

- `409`: Dataset cannot be replaced in its current state
