# List political and regulatory news

`GET /v1/news`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.dapperglobal.com`
- URL: `https://api.dapperglobal.com/v1/news`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Curated political/regulatory news from official institutional communications and press services (see 'Data sources' below) — narrower and more targeted than general news search. Use bills/regulations/schedules instead when you need the primary-source record itself rather than news coverage of it.

Paginated across countries, newest first. `country_code` is comma-separated (e.g. `BR,CO`); omit to return all accessible countries. Use `since`/`until` (YYYY-MM-DD) to narrow to a time window. Each row carries title, publication date, country and a short `excerpt` of the body — news items here are whole daily digests (tens of KB each), so list mode deliberately does NOT return them in full; pass `content=true`, or fetch one by id, once you know which item you want. Use `q` to search by title or meaning — it tries the hybrid/semantic search engine first, and falls back automatically to a plain title match (accent/case/whitespace-insensitive) if the engine is unavailable or finds no hit above `min_similarity`. Use `interest_tag_id` to filter by topic ('Intereses') — resolve a name to its id with `list_interest_tags(q="<name>")` first, or read a logged-in user's own default topics from the `dapper://me` MCP resource. News is the only domain where this filter is currently useful — regulations/bills carry the same tag relationship but are tagged on only a handful of rows today.

**Data sources:** official institutional communications and press services of congresses and government bodies, curated and written by Dapper's own monitoring pipeline — this is Dapper's summary/writeup, not a scrape of one external article. `content` is the body as published and may contain HTML markup (sometimes a whole embedded <style> block) — use `content_text` for a plain-text version instead of showing `content` to a person. ⚠️ No external source-document URL exists for a news item (unlike bills/regulations/consultations/transcripts) — cite it as Dapper's own coverage, and use bills/regulations/consultations instead when the user needs a primary-source document.

## Query parameters

- `limit` integer
- `cursor` string, nullable
- `since` string, date, nullable
- `until` string, date, nullable
- `interest_tag_id` integer, nullable: Filter by interest tag ID (see list_interest_tags). Ignored when `q` is given and the semantic search engine returns a hit -- only applies to the plain substring path, same as other categorical filters (e.g. regulations' entity_id).
- `q` string, nullable: Search news by title or meaning. Tries the hybrid/semantic search engine first (ranked by relevance, ignoring `interest_tag_id`; `since`/`until` still apply); pass a `cursor` and it stays on the keyword path instead, since ranked results are a single page. If it's unavailable or finds no semantic match, falls back to a plain title substring match (accent/case/whitespace-insensitive), where `interest_tag_id` does apply.
- `min_similarity` number: Relevance floor for the semantic branch of `q` (0-1). Hits at or below it are discarded; if nothing survives, `q` falls back to the keyword match. Lower it to widen a search that came back empty.
- `min_rerank` number, nullable: Cross-encoder floor for the semantic branch of `q`. This is the filter that discriminates: measured on production, 58% of rows that clear `min_similarity` are rejected here, and the two similarity ranges overlap almost completely. Rows dropped by it come back under `empty_result.near_misses` when nothing else survives. Pass a value below every score (e.g. -1000) to disable it.
- `content` boolean: When true, include each item's full body (`content`/`content_text`) inline instead of the short `excerpt`. News items are whole daily digests (tens of KB each), so this is capped at 10 items regardless of `limit`. Prefer fetching the one item by id once you know which you want; and prefer `content_text` over `content` (raw HTML) when reading the body.
- `country_code` string, nullable: Comma-separated country codes, e.g. BR,CO,CL.
- `country_id` string, nullable: Deprecated alias: comma-separated numeric ids, e.g. 8,2,6.
