# Retrieve the samples of a continuous step, in buckets

`GET /dag-runs/{name}/{dagRunId}/steps/{stepName}/samples`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://localhost/api/v1`
- URL: `http://localhost/api/v1/dag-runs/{name}/{dagRunId}/steps/{stepName}/samples`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP basic
  - none

Returns the executions of a continuous step as buckets of one tier (1 second, 1 minute, 1 hour or 24 hours). The server picks the finest tier whose retention covers `from` and whose bucket count in the window is not more than `points`. The response has at most `points` buckets and does not depend on the count of executions.

## Path parameters

- `name` string, regex, required: Name of the DAG
- `dagRunId` string, required: Unique identifier for the DAG-run. The special value 'latest' can be used to reference the most recent DAG-run.
- `stepName` string, required

## Query parameters

## Response `200`

A successful response

- StepSamples
  - `resolutionSeconds` integer, required: Width of the tier that the buckets come from: 1, 60, 3600 or 86400
  - `from` string, date-time, required
  - `to` string, date-time, required
  - `buckets` SampleBucket[], required: Buckets in time order. A bucket with no sample is not listed.
    - `time` string, date-time, required: Start of the bucket, in UTC
    - `count` integer, required: Count of samples in the bucket
    - `failures` integer, required: Count of failed samples (exit code not 0)
    - `minMs` integer, required
    - `maxMs` integer, required
    - `p50Ms` integer, required
    - `p95Ms` integer, required

## Other responses

- `400`: A query parameter is not valid or out of its range, or from is after to
- `404`: DAG-run or step not found, or the step is not a continuous step
- `default`: Generic error response
