# Retrieve the events of a continuous step

`GET /dag-runs/{name}/{dagRunId}/steps/{stepName}/events`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://localhost/api/v1`
- URL: `http://localhost/api/v1/dag-runs/{name}/{dagRunId}/steps/{stepName}/events`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP basic
  - none

Lists the events of a continuous step, the newest first: start, stop, failed and recovered.

## Path parameters

- `name` string, regex, required: Name of the DAG
- `dagRunId` string, required: Unique identifier for the DAG-run. The special value 'latest' can be used to reference the most recent DAG-run.
- `stepName` string, required

## Query parameters

- `remoteNode` string
- `from` string, date-time
- `to` string, date-time
- `limit` integer
- `before` string

## Response `200`

A successful response

- StepEvents
  - `events` StepEvent[], required
    - `time` string, date-time, required
    - `kind` 'started' | 'stopped' | 'failed' | 'recovered', required
    - `exitCode` integer
    - `message` string: Last line of the standard error of a failed execution, 256 bytes at most
    - `failedCount` integer: For `recovered` and for a repeated `failed` event: count of failed samples of the outage
    - `outageSeconds` integer: For `recovered`: length of the outage
  - `nextCursor` string: Cursor for the next page. Absent when there are no more events.

## Other responses

- `400`: A query parameter is not valid or out of its range, from is after to, or before is not a cursor that the server gave
- `404`: DAG-run or step not found, or the step is not a continuous step
- `default`: Generic error response
