# Analyze a video

`POST /clips/info`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.cut.pro/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.cut.pro/api/v1/clips/info`
- Auth: API key in header `X-Api-Key`

Fetches metadata for a public video URL and calculates the exact credit cost before you commit to clipping. No credits are charged. Use this as a pre-flight check before calling `POST /clips`.

When `credits_unlimited` is `true`, this workspace is on free usage: `credits_cost` still tells you what the job is worth, but submitting it will not move your balance.

Rate-limited to **10 requests per minute** per user.

## Request body

- object
  - `url` string, required: Public video URL (YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok, etc.)

## Response `200`

Response for status 200

- object
  - `id` string, required: Unique video ID. Pass it to `POST /clips` as `video_id`
  - `title` string, required: Video title
  - `description` string, required: Video description
  - `author` string, required: Channel or creator name
  - `platform` string, required: Source platform — e.g. `youtube`, `twitch`, `kick`, `tiktok`
  - `duration` number, required: Video duration in seconds
  - `thumbnail_url` string, required: URL of the video thumbnail
  - `credits_cost` number, required: Cost of clipping this video, after any discount. Deducted on submit unless `credits_unlimited` is `true`
  - `credits_original` number, required: Base credit cost before loyalty or plan discounts
  - `discount_percent` number, required: Discount applied as a percentage (0–100). Non-zero for returning users or plan benefits
  - `force_watermark` boolean, required: `true` if generated clips will carry a CutPro watermark — upgrade your plan to remove it
  - `current_balance` number, required: Your credit balance at the time of this request
  - `credits_unlimited` boolean, required: `true` while usage is free for this workspace: the job runs without consuming credits and is never rejected for lack of balance
