# Get a WhatsApp template's Meta status

`GET /v1/design_studio/whatsapp/{id}/status`

## Request

Returns a WhatsApp template's Meta approval status. After you [submit a template](/integrations/api/design-studio/tag/whatsapp-approval/submitWhatsApp/), call this endpoint periodically to find out when Meta approves or rejects it.

If you haven't submitted the template, the response has `submitted` set to `false` and no other fields. Unlike the `status` on [Get a WhatsApp template](/integrations/api/design-studio/tag/whatsapp/getWhatsApp/), this endpoint returns an error when Customer.io can't look up the status, so an empty response always means you haven't submitted the template.

Successful response

- object
  - `submitted` boolean, required: Whether you've submitted the template to Meta.
  - `node_id` string, uuid: The UUID of the WhatsApp template.
  - `whatsapp_template_id` string: Meta's ID for the template you submitted most recently.
  - `category` 'MARKETING' | 'UTILITY': The category Meta holds the template under.
  - `status` 'PENDING' | 'APPROVED' | 'REJECTED' | 'PAUSED': The template's Meta status. `APPROVED` means you can send the template. If Meta returns `REJECTED`, you can edit the template and submit it again.
  - `status_reason` string: Meta's reason for the current status, when Meta gives one.
  - `rejection_info` string: Meta's explanation of why it rejected the template.
  - `last_submitted_at` integer: When you last submitted the template, as a Unix timestamp in seconds.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid due to malformed parameters, missing required fields, or constraint violations.
- `401`: Authentication failed due to a missing or invalid API key.
- `404`: The requested resource was not found.
