# List, search and filter the market catalog

`GET /v1/markets`

## Request

**Min tier: `free`.** Enumerate the market catalog (~2.1M markets). Keyset-paginated on `condition_id`; page size scales with plan (25 free / 100 terminal / 250 terminal_pro).

`q` is a case-insensitive substring match on the market title and requires at least 2 characters. `category` takes a canonical slug (`politics`, `crypto`, `sports`, `culture`, `economics`, `tech`, `science`, `geopolitics`, `breaking-news`) and is expanded to the underlying stored variants for you.

A market's open/closed status is deliberately not returned or filterable here — that field is unreliable on a share of rows, and filtering on a wrong status is worse than not offering it. Use `/v1/markets/{slug}` for a single market's detail.

## Other responses

- `400`: Malformed parameters or a rejected guardrail (e.g. unfiltered trades query, cluster blowup, window > 90 days).
- `401`: Missing, invalid, or revoked API key. Returned before the rate limiter runs, so it carries no `X-RateLimit-*` headers.
- `429`: Hourly or monthly rate limit exceeded.
