# Resolve a ticker or company name to EDGAR companies

`GET /sec/company/search`

## Request

Resolves a ticker symbol or company-name query to SEC EDGAR companies (CIK, ticker, name).

## Query parameters

- `q` string, required
- `limit` integer

    - `count` integer: Number of companies returned.
    - `matches` SecCompanyMatch[]: Companies matching the query, exact ticker match first.
      - `cik` integer: Company's SEC Central Index Key (CIK) number.
      - `cik_padded` string: CIK number padded to 10 digits with a `CIK` prefix, as used in SEC data URLs.
      - `name` string: Company name as registered with the SEC.
      - `ticker` string: Stock ticker symbol of the company.
    - `query` string: Ticker or company name that was searched.
    - `source_url` string: URL the data was read from.
  - `msg` string

- `500`: Internal Server Error
- `503`: Service Unavailable
