# Poll coarse public consumer handoff status.

`GET /api/consumer/status`

## Request

Returns non-PII public progress for a prior consumer handoff. Once quoted, `offer_summary` includes only quote count and premium highlights rather than direct session URLs.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid or missing token parameter.
- `404`: No matching consumer handoff exists.
- `409`: The polling token is stale or expired.
- `429`: Too many consumer handoff or public polling requests. Honor the Retry-After header before retrying.
- `500`: Coverage Cat could not read the consumer handoff status.
