# Get chat metadata

`GET /api/chat/meta`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.cotool.ai`
- URL: `https://app.cotool.ai/api/chat/meta`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Retrieve lightweight chat metadata (title and per-event feedback) without loading the full event history. Prefer this over /api/chat/history when only the chat header (title + feedback) is needed.

## Query parameters

- `chatId` string, uuid, required: Unique identifier of the chat to retrieve metadata for

## Response `200`

Successful response

- object: Lightweight chat metadata (title, owner, and per-event feedback) without the full event history
  - `chatId` string, required: Identifier of the chat the metadata belongs to
  - `title` string, nullable, required: Chat title, or null if the chat has no title yet
  - `agentId` string, nullable: Agent that owns this chat, or null for non-agent chats
  - `detectionId` string, nullable: Detection that owns this chat, or null for non-detection chats
  - `feedbackByEvent` object, required: Latest human thumb feedback keyed by chat event id

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request — input validation failed or the request was malformed
- `401`: Unauthorized — missing or invalid API key / session
- `403`: Forbidden — the authenticated user lacks the required permissions
- `500`: Internal server error
