# Get artifact

`GET /api/artifacts/{artifactId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.cotool.ai`

Fetch the content and metadata of a stored artifact by its ID for a given chat.

## Path parameters

- `artifactId` string, required: Unique identifier of the artifact to retrieve

## Query parameters

- `chatId` string, uuid, required: Unique identifier of the chat that owns this artifact

## Response `200`

Successful response

- object: Artifact content and metadata
  - `content` string, required: The full content of the artifact
  - `metadata` object: Optional metadata associated with the artifact

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request — input validation failed or the request was malformed
- `401`: Unauthorized — missing or invalid API key / session
- `403`: Forbidden — the authenticated user lacks the required permissions
- `500`: Internal server error
