# Delete a verification period

`DELETE /api/v1/verification-periods/{periodCid}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.getcortexapp.com`
- URL: `https://api.getcortexapp.com/api/v1/verification-periods/{periodCid}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Closes the period and stops it appearing in reads, along with the verifications recorded against it. The CID is not reissued, so the period cannot be restored through this API.

## Path parameters

- `periodCid` string, required

## Response `204`

The period was deleted

## Other responses

- `404`: Verification period not found
- `429`: The client has exceeded the rate limit by performing too many requests in a short period. Retry the request after a delay.
