# Update a room folder

`PATCH /rooms/{id}/folders/{folderId}`

## Request

Rename, move (`parentId`; "root" for the top level, cycle-guarded, duplicate-name-guarded on move), or restyle (`icon`/`color`, off-allowlist values ignored). Empty-string resets (`parentId`/`icon`/`color`) are MCP-only (`update_room_folder`) — this REST endpoint treats an empty string as an omitted field. Move failures return typed codes `MOVE_CYCLE` / `MOVE_INVALID_PARENT` / `MOVE_DUPLICATE_NAME`. Scope: `datarooms:write`.
