# Move a room file

`PATCH /rooms/{id}/files/{fileId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://dataroom.corgi.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://dataroom.corgi.com/api/v1/rooms/{id}/files/{fileId}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Moves a room file to a different `folderId` (or the root). `fileId` is the DataRoomFile id, not the document id. Scope: `datarooms:write`.

  - `folderId` string, required: Destination folder id, or empty/"root" for the room root

## Response `200`

Moved

## Other responses

- `400`: Target folder not in this room
- `404`: Not found
- `409`: Room is frozen
