# Remove Contact from Audience

`DELETE /v2/audiences/{audienceId}/contacts`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://pub-api.conversion.ai/api`

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - API key in query parameter `api_key`

Remove a contact from one static audience, identified by cnvContactId, userId, or email, in that order. Does not delete the contact, update fields, change subscription status, or remove other audience memberships. Returns success if the contact or membership is already absent. Requires audience edit permission.

## Path parameters

- `audienceId` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- object
  - `email` string, email: The contact's email address. At least one of `cnvContactId`, `userId`, or `email` is required.
  - `cnvContactId` string, uuid: The Conversion contact ID. At least one of `cnvContactId`, `userId`, or `email` is required.
  - `userId` string: An external user identifier for the contact. At least one of `cnvContactId`, `userId`, or `email` is required.

## Response `200`

Membership is absent, including if the contact was not found.

    - `removed` boolean, required: True once membership is absent.
    - `cnvContactId` string, uuid: Resolved contact ID, omitted if the contact was not found.

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing identifiers or a non-static audience.
- `401`: Authentication failed.
- `403`: The API key lacks audience edit permission.
- `404`: The audience was not found.
- `409`: The provided identifiers conflict with an existing contact.
- `500`: An unexpected server error occurred.
