# Create a media folder

`POST /api/v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}/media/folders`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.contentstudio.io`
- URL: `https://api.contentstudio.io/api/v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}/media/folders`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Creates a folder in the workspace content library. Omit parent_folder_id to create a top-level folder, or supply it to create a subfolder. Folder names must be unique within their level.

- `workspace_id` string, required

## Request body

  - `folder_name` string, required
  - `parent_folder_id` string, nullable: Create as a subfolder of this folder

## Response `200`

Folder created

## Other responses

- `401`: Unauthorized - API key missing or invalid
- `403`: Forbidden - No access to workspace. Workspace access refusals return `error_code` `WORKSPACE_ACCESS_DENIED`, `WORKSPACE_INVITATION_PENDING`, `WORKSPACE_LOCKED`, `PERMISSION_DENIED`.
- `404`: Parent folder not found in this workspace (FOLDER_NOT_FOUND)
- `422`: Validation error or duplicate folder name (VALIDATION_ERROR / FOLDER_CREATE_FAILED)
- `429`: Too many requests
