# Delete an existing metadata override rule for the specified field name.

`DELETE /v1/metadata_overrides/{field_name}`

**🔐 This endpoint requires [HTTP authentication](https://docs.constructor.com/reference/main-authentication) (either [Basic](https://docs.constructor.com/reference/main-authentication#basic-authentication) or [Bearer](https://docs.constructor.com/reference/main-authentication#bearer-authentication)).**
For authenticating with Bearer token, required scopes are: `metadata_overrides(w)`.

## Path parameters

- `field_name` string, required

## Query parameters

- `key` string, required — The key of the index to use.
- `section` string — The section of the index to use. Defaults to `Products`.
- `c` string — The ID of the client and version that the request is coming from, such as `cio-js-2.90`.

OK

- MetadataOverridesDeleteResponse
  - `field_name` string, required — Field name associated with the metadata override configuration.
  - `field_path_in_metadata` string — Path to the field in metadata where the metadata override configuration is applied.
  - `rules` MetadataOverridesRuleResponseBase[], required — List of rules associated with metadata override configuration.
    - `start_time` string, date-time, required — Datetime (In UTC) when the rule should be enabled. Overlapping rules are not allowed.
    - `end_time` string, date-time, required — Datetime (In UTC) when the rule should be disabled. Overlapping rules are not allowed.
    - `replaced_field_name` string, required — Field name that the rule is replacing.
    - `replaced_field_path_in_metadata` string, required — Path to the replacement field in metadata.

## Other responses

- `400` — Validation Error
- `401` — Credentials are not passed or action is forbidden.
- `403` — The supplied token does not have the required permissions.
- `404` — Not Found
- `429` — Rate limit breached
