# Create channel

`POST /v1/projects/{project_id}/channels`

## Request

Create a notification channel and validate its provider configuration.

Required permission: `channels.manage`.

## Path parameters

- `project_id` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- ChannelCreate
  - `type` string, required: Channel type, such as `webhook`. The channel types endpoint lists the available types.
  - `name` string, required
  - `config` object, required: Type-specific settings, using the configuration fields the channel types endpoint lists for the type.
  - `subscribed_events` string[]: Notification event types to send to this channel, such as `build_failed` or `judge_score_low`.
  - `enabled` boolean: Whether the channel receives deliveries.

## Response `201`

Successful Response

- ChannelResponse: An external destination for project notifications and approval requests.
  - `id` string, uuid, required
  - `project_id` string, uuid, required: Project the channel belongs to.
  - `type` string, required: Channel type, such as `webhook`, `datadog` or `otlp`.
  - `name` string, required
  - `config` object, required: Type-specific settings. Secret values are masked as `****` followed by their last four characters.
  - `subscribed_events` string[]: Notification event types sent to this channel.
  - `enabled` boolean, required: Whether the channel receives deliveries.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required
  - `updated_at` string, date-time, required

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `403`: The API key lacks the required permission or access to the environment.
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded.
