# Mortgages & charges

`GET /live/charges/{number}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.companystack.co.uk`
- URL: `https://api.companystack.co.uk/live/charges/{number}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-Api-Key`

All secured charges (mortgages, debentures, liens) registered against the company. The list is complete or the request fails: it is served from storage when CompanyStack can prove the stored list complete (the charges stream is on, without a gap and current, and the list was read in full from Companies House in the last 30 days), otherwise read once from Companies House, otherwise 503 with Retry-After. as_at is when the list was last known current, source says stored or live, and complete is always true. A lender who has asked not to be named as a person is shown as "Name withheld". A company with no charges answers 404.

Charges with status and parties: { company_number, total_count, satisfied_count, outstanding_count, part_satisfied_count, items, as_at, source, complete }

## Other responses

- `401`: API key missing, malformed or revoked
- `403`: The key's plan does not include this endpoint (`code: plan_upgrade_required`, with `upgrade_url`), the key may not call it, or the key is beyond the plan's key limit after a downgrade (`code: key_limit_exceeded`: the newest keys are paused until keys are deleted or the plan upgraded)
- `404`: The company has no charges (or is not found)
- `429`: Per-minute or per-day limit reached (`code: rate_limited`, `window: minute|day`). Wait `Retry-After` seconds; when both windows are full the day is reported. A refused request does not count against either limit. A bulk lookup (`POST /company/bulk`) counts each company number in it as one request, so one that is more than you have left is refused whole, and the body adds `requested` and `fits`.
- `503`: The charges could not be read and the stored list cannot be proved complete: not available (never a partial list). Retry-After is set.
