# Global crypto market snapshot

`GET /api/market/snapshot`

## Request

Keyless latest global snapshot: total market cap and 24h volume (in
`fiat`) with their 24h change in percent, BTC and ETH dominance, ETH
gas, tracked coin and exchange counts, and the Fear and Greed index.
Keys are lower-case, as served. `date` is the snapshot minute and
`createdat` its write time; it refreshes about every minute.
`stablecoinvolume` and `defivolume` were 0 with null change in every
2026-10-16 probe: do not read that 0 as zero volume.

`fiat` is upper-cased; an untracked code is echoed in
`fiatcurrency` with `fiatratetousd: 1` and USD values. Query
parameters other than `fiat` are ignored. Also served at
`/api/v1/market/snapshot` with identical behaviour.

- PublicMarketSnapshot: Latest global market snapshot. Keys are lower-case, as served. Totals are in `fiatcurrency`; changes are percent.

  - `stablecoinvolume` number, nullable: 0 in every 2026-10-16 probe; do not read it as zero volume.
  - `stablecoinvolumechange` number, nullable
  - `defivolume` number, nullable: 0 in every 2026-10-16 probe; do not read it as zero volume.
  - `defivolumechange` number, nullable
  - `ethgasslow` number, nullable: ETH gas price tier (about 0.06 on 2026-10-16, consistent with gwei).
  - `ethgasstandard` number, nullable
  - `ethgasfast` number, nullable
  - `coincount` integer, nullable: Coins in the totals.
  - `exchangecount` integer, nullable: Exchanges in the totals.
  - `feargreedindex` integer, nullable
  - `fiatcurrency` string, required: The requested currency, upper-cased.
  - `fiatratetousd` number, required: Fiat-per-USD rate applied; 1 for USD and for an untracked code.

## Other responses

- `404`: No snapshot stored yet
- `429`: Per-IP public rate limit exceeded. Honor `Retry-After` when present, otherwise back off; `RateLimit-*` headers report the window.
- `500`: Server error
