# Transfer team ownership

`POST /api/v3/teams/{team_id}/ownership`

Make the given team member the owner. The previous owner becomes an admin.

## Path parameters

- `team_id` string, required

## Request body

- TransferOwnershipSchema
  - `user_id` string, required: ID of the user who becomes the owner. Must be a member of the team other than the caller, not an app-only member.

## Response `204`

Request fulfilled, nothing follows

## Other responses

- `400`: The request could not be validated
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
- `403`: The caller lacks the required permission
- `404`: The requested resource does not exist
- `429`: The rate limit has been exceeded
