# Register external build notification recipients

`POST /api/v3/teams/{team_id}/external-recipients`

Register email addresses that may receive build notifications from this team's workflows.

Each new address is emailed a confirmation request and is **not** sent build notifications
until the recipient confirms. Addresses belonging to current team members need no record
here and are skipped.

### Skipped addresses

- Invalid email addresses.
- Addresses belonging to a member of this team.
- Addresses already registered for this team, whether confirmed, pending or removed. Each
  address is asked to confirm at most once per team.

Addresses that have previously hard-bounced, reported our email as spam or unsubscribed are
registered as `rejected` and are not emailed a confirmation request.

- `400`: The request could not be validated
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
