# Update Odoo on server

`POST /servers/{id}/update`

## Request

Initiates an update of the Odoo installation on the server. This endpoint triggers the update process for the core Odoo system, applying any available security patches, bug fixes, or feature updates from the official Odoo repository. This helps ensure your server is running the latest stable version of Odoo within your chosen major version.

**Key Parameters:**
- `id`: The unique identifier of the server to update

**NOTE:** The update process runs asynchronously and may take several minutes to complete. During this time, your Odoo instances on the server will remain accessible, but some administrative operations might be temporarily unavailable. It's recommended to schedule updates during low-traffic periods.
