# Set template as default

`PUT /instance-templates/{id}/default`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.cloudpepper.io`
- URL: `https://api.cloudpepper.io/instance-templates/{id}/default`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Sets or unsets the specified instance template as the default template for the tenant. The default template will be automatically selected when creating new instances.

**Key Parameters:**
- `id`: The unique identifier of the instance template
- `default`: Boolean flag to set (true) or unset (false) this template as the default

NOTE: Only one template can be the default at a time. Setting a new default will automatically unset any previously default template.

## Response `200`

Default status updated successfully

## Other responses

- `403`: Insufficient permissions
- `404`: Instance template not found
