# Get Brains

`GET /brains`

The named brain configurations (v2 §4.7) and ``current``, the brain this account's
next run takes. Since owner ruling D8 (2026-10-06) a stored choice no longer changes
the brain: every run takes the default unless it asks for the Deep cut with
``engine: "deep"``. Only default and selectable configs (E1), and only for a
signed-in account; seats and archived brains are never listed. Display id + label
only, never model or effort internals. Costs nothing quota-wise.
Recover from unknown_brain by reading this list again; for rate_limited or
service_unavailable, wait retry_after_sec and retry once.
