# Update a note

`PATCH /notes/{noteId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.cleve.ai/api/v1`
- URL: `https://app.cleve.ai/api/v1/notes/{noteId}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Updates a note. Every field is optional. `content` replaces the whole body; `title` alone rewrites only the title.

## Path parameters

- `noteId` string, required

## Request body

- NoteUpdate
  - `title` string: New title.
  - `content` string: New body as Markdown. Replaces the whole body.
  - `isPinned` boolean
  - `isPublic` boolean: Turn link sharing on or off.
  - `folderId` string, nullable: Move to this folder, or `null` to unfile.

## Response `200`

The note was updated.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid. `error` says which field is missing or wrong.
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `500`: Unexpected server error. Safe to retry once.
