# Create locate order

`POST /accounts/{account_id}/locate-orders`

Create locate order to borrow inventory for short-selling.

## Path parameters

- `account_id` string, required: Account ID for the account.

## Request body

  - `quantity` string, required: String representation of quantity.
  - `mpid` string, required: The market participant where the locate will be sent.
  - `reference_id` string, required: An ID that you provide.
  - `comments` string: Any additional comments for the locate request.

  - `requested_at` integer, required: Milliseconds since epoch.

  - `account_number` string, required: Account number for the account.

  - `desk_comment` string: Comment from the desk.
  - `trader_comment` string: Comment from the trader.
  - `reference_id` string: An ID that you provide.
