# Create a free API key (shown once)

`POST /v1/keys`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://citedtravel.com`
- URL: `https://citedtravel.com/v1/keys`
- Auth: one of:
  - none
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`

## Request body

- object
  - `email` string, email, required
  - `accept_terms` true
  - `newsletter` boolean: Optional. true = also ask for the CitedTravel newsletter: we email a confirmation link (double opt-in) and send nothing else until it is clicked. Never required for a key.
