# Create Groups

`POST /organizations/{org_id}/groups`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://circleci.com/api/v2`
- URL: `https://circleci.com/api/v2/organizations/{org_id}/groups`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `Circle-Token`
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP basic
  - API key in query parameter `circle-token`

Create a new group under the organization. Currently only supported for standalone organizations.

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, required: Name of the group
  - `description` string: Description to describe the group

## Response `201`

Successful creation of a group.

- Group
  - `id` string, uuid: Unique identifier for group
  - `name` string: Name of group
  - `description` string: Description field on group

## Other responses

- `400`: Unexpected request body provided.
- `401`: Credentials provided are invalid.
- `403`: None or insufficient credentials provided.
- `404`: Entity not found.
- `409`: A conflict has occurred while attempting to create the resource.
- `500`: Internal server error.
