# Create a new project

`POST /demand/accounts/{account_id}/projects`

## Request

This endpoint creates a new project. Project creation is an asynchronous process.

A successful request is accepted for processing and immediately returns a `202 Accepted` response with the new project's unique `id`.

To prevent duplicate projects from being created due to network issues, this endpoint requires an `Idempotency-Key` header.

## Headers

- `idempotency-key` string, required: A shallow unique ID used as part of the deduplication mechanism for mutable operations. We suggest using UUIDv4 or another random string with sufficient entropy to avoid collisions.

## Request body

- ProjectInfo: The request payload for creating a new project
  - `name` string, required: The name of the project. Any leading or trailing whitespace will be trimmed.
  - `project_manager_id` string, uuid, required: Project manager ID.
  - `project_customer_reference_number` string: A customer-provided reference number assigned to the project.

## Response `202`

Confirms that the project creation request has been accepted for processing.

- ProjectIDResponse: Response containing only the project ID.
  - `id` string, ulid

## Other responses

- `400`: A request is not valid and can't be processed.
- `401`: A request is unauthorized.
- `403`: A requested is forbidden.
- `404`: A requested resource isn't found.
- `500`: A request failed due to an internal error.
