# Get FX rates

`GET /forex/rates`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://{prefix}.api.sandbox.checkout.com`
- URL: `https://{prefix}.api.sandbox.checkout.com/forex/rates`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Client credentials

Get the indicative foreign exchange (FX) rates for:

  - <a href="https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/api/fx-rates-api#Daily_acquiring_FX_rates" target="_blank">Daily acquiring</a>
  - <a href="https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/api/fx-rates-api#Scheme_acquiring_FX_rates" target="_blank">Scheme acquiring</a>
  - <a href="https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/api/fx-rates-api#Card_payouts_FX_rates" target="_blank">Card payouts</a>

If you request an FX rate for a product that is not enabled for your account, you receive a `403 Forbidden` error response.

## Query parameters

- `product` 'card_payouts' | 'daily_acquiring' | 'scheme_acquiring', required: The Checkout.com Forex product you want to get rates for.
- `source` 'mastercard' | 'visa', required: The scheme that provided the FX rates.<br/>If `product` is `daily_acquiring`, this field is not required.
- `currency_pairs` string, required: A list of <a href="https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/codes/currency-codes" target="_blank">currency code</a> pairs to retrieve FX rates for. For example, to request a rate for a USD to GBP conversion, the currency pair is `USDGBP`.<br/>Format – Comma-separated list
- `processing_channel_id` string, required: The <a href="https://www.checkout.com/docs/business-operations/use-the-dashboard/manage-processing-channels" target="_blank">processing channel's</a> unique identifier.

Rates retrieved successfully

- ForexRatesResponse
  - `product` 'card_payouts' | 'daily_acquiring' | 'scheme_acquiring': The Checkout.com Forex product you want to get rates for.
  - `source` 'mastercard' | 'visa': The scheme that provided the FX rates.<br/>If `product` is `daily_acquiring`, this field is not required.
  - `rates` ForexRate[]: List of FX rates with Checkout.com margin applied
    - `exchange_rate` number, double: The FX rate with Checkout.com margin applied. Up to eight decimal places provided in response.
    - `currency_pair` string: Currency pair
    - `valid_from` string, date-time: ISO 8601 timestamp
  - `invalid_currency_pairs` string[]: List of currency pairs that Checkout.com was unable to provide rates for

## Other responses

- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `422`: Unprocessable Content
- `429`: Too Many Requests / Duplicate Requests
- `502`: Bad Gateway
