# Duplicate a proposal alternative

`POST /api/v1/events/{event_id}/proposal_alternatives/{id}/duplicate`

Copies an alternative, with its packages, add-ons, backdrop and discounts, into a new alternative on the same proposal, and returns the copy. Use it to offer a variation on an existing option.

**Required permission:** `assigned_event_write` (when the authenticated user is assigned to the event) or `unassigned_event_write` (otherwise).
