# Update a staff member's role and package assignment

`PUT /api/v1/events/{event_id}/event_staff_members/{id}`

## Request

Updates an existing staff assignment's package scope and/or arrival times. Send `all_event_bookings: false` with `event_booking_ids` to scope the staff member to specific packages, or `all_event_bookings: true` to cover the whole event again. `event_booking_arrives_at_times` sets (or, when blank, clears) per-package arrivals keyed by EventBooking ID. Send `role` to relabel what the staff member is doing; omit it to leave the existing role untouched, or send an empty string to clear it. This does not change who is assigned, and does not re-send the "Employee Assigned" notifications.

**Required permission:** `assigned_event_write` or `unassigned_event_write`

  - `role` string: The role this staff member fills on the event (e.g., "DJ", "Photographer"). Omit to leave it unchanged.
  - `all_event_bookings` boolean: Assign to every package (true) or scope to specific packages (false, with event_booking_ids).
  - `event_booking_ids` integer[]: When all_event_bookings is false, the EventBooking (package) IDs this staff member covers.
  - `event_booking_arrives_at_times` object: Per-package arrival times, keyed by EventBooking ID. Send an empty string for a package to clear it.
