# Download a file

`GET /file/{fileId}/download`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.chatbotkit.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.chatbotkit.com/api/v1/file/{fileId}/download`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Download a file. If the file is not public, the user must be
authenticated.

## Path parameters

- `fileId` string, required: The ID of the file to download

## Response `200`

The file was downloaded successfully

  - `url` string, required: The URL to download the file

## Other responses

- `204`: The file resource exists but has no content stored yet
- `default`: An error response
