# Update a Source

`PATCH /v1/sources/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://sandboxapi.givechariot.com`

Updates a custom source. Canonical sources are read-only; a PATCH on
one returns `403 Forbidden`.

If another source on your account already has the new name, the
request returns `409 Conflict`.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string: The human-readable name of the source.
  - `logo` string, uri, nullable: URL of the source's logo, if one is available.

## Response `200`

The updated source.

- Source: A Source is the provider or platform responsible for facilitating a payment and providing access to its data (e.g. Fidelity Charitable, Benevity). Donations and deposits reference a Source to identify where the money and data came from. Canonical sources are maintained by Chariot. Organizations can add custom sources for providers Chariot doesn't yet recognize.
  - `id` string, required: The unique identifier for the source.
  - `name` string, required: The human-readable name of the source.
  - `scope` 'canonical' | 'custom', required: Who owns this source. - `canonical` — maintained by Chariot and shared across every organization. Read-only. - `custom` — created by an organization for its own use, and mutable by that organization.
  - `logo` string, uri, nullable: URL of the source's logo, if one is available.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required: When this source was added to the directory.
  - `updated_at` string, date-time, required: When this source was last modified.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid or contains invalid parameters
- `401`: Unauthorized. The request is missing the security (OAuth2 Bearer token) requirements and the server is unable to verify the identify of the caller.
- `403`: Access denied
- `404`: Resource Not Found
- `409`: Resource Conflicts
- `500`: Internal Server Error
