# One electric car, with how long it takes to charge

`GET /v1/vehicles/{slug}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.chargealong.io`
- URL: `https://api.chargealong.io/v1/vehicles/{slug}`
- Auth: none required

One car by its slug, with everything the list carries plus `charging`: how long 10% to 80% takes on a 50, 150 and 350 kW charger, worked out from this car's own charging curve and the same assumptions the trip planner makes, so a car's page and a plan through it never disagree.

Slugs are built from the brand, model and variant and do not change when the source rewrites a record.

Figures from Open EV Data (github.com/KilowattApp/open-ev-data), MIT licensed with attribution required: credit "Open EV Data" wherever you use them. ChargeAlong does not measure cars and states what that dataset says.

The list is built into this API rather than held in its database, so it changes only when the API is deployed and may be cached for a day.

## Path parameters

- `slug` string, required

## Response `200`

The car, its charging times and the source

- VehicleResponse: One electric car, with where the figures come from.
  - `data` VehicleDetail, required: One electric car, with how long it takes to charge.
    - `slug` string, required: The car in URLs.
    - `brand` string, required: The maker.
    - `model` string, required: The model.
    - `variant` string: The variant, where there is one.
    - `year` integer: Model year, where known.
    - `source_id` string, required: Open EV Data's own id for the record.
    - `battery_kwh` number, required: Usable battery capacity, kWh.
    - `consumption_kwh_100km` number: Energy use, kWh per 100 km, where known.
    - `range_km` integer: Range in km, derived: the battery over the consumption.
    - `ac_kw` number: Fastest AC charging, kW.
    - `ac_ports` string[]: AC connector standards the car takes.
    - `dc_kw` number: Fastest DC charging, kW.
    - `dc_ports` string[]: DC connector standards the car takes.
    - `curve` CurvePoint[]: The DC charging curve: power by state of charge.
      - `pct` integer, required: State of charge, percent.
      - `power_kw` number, required: Power the car draws at that state of charge, kW.
    - `curve_is_generic` boolean: The curve is the dataset's default shape, not this car's measured one: an estimate.
    - `voltage_v` integer: Battery architecture voltage, V.
    - `charging` ChargeTime[], required: Minutes from 10 to 80 percent on 50, 150 and 350 kW chargers.
      - `charger_kw` number, required: The charger's power, kW.
      - `minutes_10_80` integer, required: Minutes from 10 to 80 percent, following the car's curve.
  - `source` VehicleSource, required: Where the vehicle figures come from. Credit it where you show them.
    - `name` string, required: The dataset: Open EV Data.
    - `url` string, uri, required: Where it is published.
    - `licence` string, required: Its licence.
  - `generated_at` string, date-time, required: When this answer was generated, UTC. Answers are cached, so it can be up to an hour old.

## Other responses

- `404`: No car of that name. The list is built into the API, so a 404 means it is not in this release.
